Sophomore defender Cassie Farber (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) put Ohio Wesleyan on the scoreboard and junior forward Ashley Smiley (Delaware/Hayes) followed with a pair of goals as the Bishops recorded a non-conference win over Washington & Jefferson on Sunday in Washington, Pa.

Ohio Wesleyan took an early lead when Farber connected on a shot from outside the penalty area just over 2 minutes into the action.

Smiley added to the Bishop lead midway through the first half, fielding a crossing pass from freshman forward Riley Welsheimer (Westerville/North) at the 6-yard box and finishing the chance with 19:52 left in the period.

Junior midfielder Caroline Elliott (Bexley) set up the Bishops' third goal, slotting a through ball to Smiley, who beat President keeper Gabriella Lloyd to make it 3-0 with 7:14 remaining in the half.

Washington & Jefferson averted the shutout when Marcy Saldiver scored midway through the second half.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Washington & Jefferson, 21-6.  Sophomore Taylor Floyd (Wilton, Conn.) made 2 saves during the first half and junior Emma Hall (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central) had 2 saves during the second half.  Lloyd finished with 10 saves for the Presidents.
