Catch up with the Ohio Wesleyan men's basketball team!
Head Coach:Â Mike DeWitt
Last year:Â 12-14, 7-11 in North Coast Athletic Conference
This year:Â 16 student-athletes on campus, 2 remote learners
What does a practice look like?
"We have been doing mostly either individual workouts with guys or small-group workouts, sprinkled with full-squad workouts once or twice a week," DeWitt said. "The guys have done a remarkable job of focusing on what we can control during a very uncertain time.
"As different as this has been, I feel we've made a lot of progress this fall."
What kind of competition have you had during the fall?
"Once we progressed through the phases that the NCAA required and we got to a point where we could compete, we have basically been letting our guys play basketball with structure. We have not done a ton of teaching.
"The team members have been so restricted in what they can do on and off campus, so we feel that letting them play is best for their physical and mental health."
What do you hope to carry over from the fall semester to the spring semester?
"It's going to be tough to carry things over because of the uniquely long break," DeWitt said. "I hope we can carry over some of the team chemistry we've built during the fall. What we bring back in physical fitness and skills will depend on what our players can do while they're off campus for 2 months."
What could winter/spring seasons look like?
"One of the things I've learned during this pandemic is that you can't anticipate. I'm hopeful that we will be able to play against outside competition, but I'm realistic that we may not."
