Eight Bishops Selected to All-NCAC Football Teams

Eight Ohio Wesleyan University football players were named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference teams, it was announced today.

Senior safety Owen Albers (North Ridgeville/Lutheran West), sophomore defensive end Marquel Henry (Dayton/Chaminade Julienne), senior defensive end K.D. Melton (Warner Robins, Ga./Houston County), senior linebacker Shane Quin (Chardon), and senior wide receiver Kenny Streb (Willowick/Eastlake North) were first-team All-NCAC selections; senior running back Trey Dixon (Atlanta, Ga./Weatlake) and senior linebacker Cody Streit (Griffin, Ga.) were second-team choices; and junior defensive tackle Travis Sanders (Mount Gilead/Thomas Worthington) was an honorable mention pick.

Albers, Henry, Melton, Quin, Streit, and Sanders were starters on an Ohio Wesleyan defense that leads the NCAC in rushing defense (78.4 yards/game) and ranks second in scoring defense (19.5 points/game), third in total defense (354.3 yards/game), and eighth in passing defense (275.9 yards/game).

Albers led the Bishops and ranks second in the NCAC with 5 interceptions, and he ranked second on the team with 6 pass breakups and third on the team with 69 tackles.

Henry led the Bishops and shares the league lead in sacks with 9, and he leads the NCAC in tackles for loss (15½).  His 51 stops tied for sixth on the team.

Melton rang up 7 sacks and 11½ tackles for loss this season, tying for fifth and ranking sixth respectively in the NCAC.  He finished the season with 46 tackles.  Melton was an honorable mention All-NCAC choice in 2019 and a second-team all-conference pick in 2018.

Quin led the Bishops with 81 tackles, including 4 sacks and 8 tackles for loss.  He is tied for third in the league in tackles.

Streb was a first-team All-NCAC selection as a return specialist and an honorable mention pick as a wide receiver.  Streb leads the NCAC in kick return average (25.3 yards/return) and punt return average (10.7 yards/return) and ranks fourth in the league in all-purpose yardage (104.4/game).  As a receiver, he ranked second on the team with 30 catches for 331 yards and led the Bishops with 8 touchdown receptions, with the 8 TD catches tied for fifth in the NCAC. 

Dixon led the Bishops and ranks fifth in the NCAC with an average of 64.1 rushing yards per game, shared the team lead with 5 rushing touchdowns, and ranks third in the conference in all-purpose yards (106.3/game).

Streit ranked second on the team with 73 tackles, including a sack and 5 for loss.  He is tied for fifth in the conference in tackles.  Streit was a first-team All-NCAC selection in 2019.

Sanders compiled 5½ sacks and 9½ tackles for loss this season.  His 51 stops tied for sixth on the team.

The Battling Bishops finished the season with an 8-2 record, the team's highest win total since 2012.  Ohio Wesleyan was 7-2 in NCAC competition, tying for second place in the final league standings.
