Four Bishops Named to Men's Soccer All-Region Teams

A total of 4 Ohio Wesleyan University men's soccer players were named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-Region VII teams, it was announced today.

Sophomore forward Jaggar Brooker (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and senior midfielder Hector Gomez (Columbus/St. Francis DeSales) were first-team all-region selections, and junior midfielder Cristian Gomez (Columbus/St. Francis DeSales) and junior back Ethan Marshall (Bexley/Columbus St. Charles) were second-team all-region picks.

Brooker led the North Coast Athletic Conference and is tied for 11th in NCAA Division III in game-winning goals (6).  He ranked fifth in the conference in goals (10) and points (22) and was named the NCAC's Offensive Player of the Year.

Hector Gomez shared the NCAC lead in goals (12), tied for second in assists (7), and led the league in points (31).  He repeated as the NCAC Midfielder of the Year.  Gomez was a first-team all-region selection in 2019.

Marshall was a starter in an Ohio Wesleyan defense that allowed a league-low 12 goals and led the NCAC in goals-against average (0.58) and shutouts (11), ranking 12th nationally in goals-against average.

Cristian Gomez compiled a goal and 2 assists while playing a variety of midfield roles this season.

Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 15-3-2 record.  The Battling Bishops went 8-1-0 in NCAC competition, finishing second in the league standings.  Ohio Wesleyan made its NCAA-record 42nd Division III tournament appearance and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament.
