Ohio Wesleyan 52, Kenyon 17

Senior running back Trey Dixon (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake), junior wide receiver J.T. Dozier (Dayton/Huber Heights Wayne), and sophomore wide receiver Jakii Alston (Pickerington/Central) scored first-quarter touchdowns as Ohio Wesleyan took a 24-0 lead during the period and went on to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Kenyon on Saturday at Selby Stadium.

Ohio Wesleyan took the opening kickoff and moved 38 yards, highlighted by a 27-yard completion from senior quarterback Zane Ries (Barberton) to senior wide receiver Kenny Streb (Willowick/Eastlake North) and a 10-yard burst from Dixon.  The drive stalled at the Kenyon 22, and senior kicker Gabe Philhower (Reynoldsburg) connected on a 39-yard field goal attempt to put the Bishops on the scoreboard.

After the Bishop defense came up with a 3-and-out, Ries found sophomore tight end Hunter Swetokos (East Lake, Fla.) for 20 yards before sophomore running back T.J. Weems (Inverness, Fla./Citrus) took off on a 41-yard run, setting up a 1-yard Dixon touchdown plunge.

Philhower recovered an onside kick, and freshman running back Jackson Gifford (Ross/Hamilton Ross) rumbled for 27 yards to set up a 9-yard scoring pass from Ries to Dozier.

Kenyon's ensuing possession ended when the snap sailed over the head of punter Grayson Lawrence, with senior defensive end K.D. Melton (Warner Robins, Ga./Houston County) making the stop at the Lords' 14-yard line.  After Ries scrambled for 10 yards, Alston covered the remaining 4, and Philhower's point-after extended the lead to 24-0 with 3:24 left in the opening period.

The Lords assembled an 11-play, 63-yard drive that culminated in a 32-yard field goal by Rocco Danese early in the second quarter.

Streb responded by returning the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown that made it a 38-3 game.  Streb set up the Bishops' next touchdown as well, nearly taking a Kenyon punt back to the end zone before getting tripped up at the Lords' 42-yard line.  Weems picked up 19 yards on first down, Ries then hit Alston for 8 yards, and the final 15 yards came on a throw from Ries to senior wide receiver Kofi Ansah-Tutu (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange).

Ries found Ansah-Tutu on a 38-yard scoring play on Ohio Wesleyan's following possession, giving the Bishops a 45-3 lead at the half.

Kenyon opened the second half with a methodical march that took more than 10 minutes off the clock, covering 82 yards in 19 plays and scoring on A.J. Allen's 5-yard throw to Justin Bosch.

Ohio Wesleyan responded with a 60-yard, 7-play drive, highlighted by Dixon's 11-yard run and a 25-yard strike from Ries to Dozier.  Dixon rumbled for 16 more yards and a first down at the Kenyon 1, then went over on second-and-goal.  Philhower's kick increased the Bishop lead to 52-10 late in the third period.

The Lords wrapped up the day's scoring with an 8-yard pass from Allen to Andrew Schnarre midway through the fourth quarter.

Ries completed 13 of 15 passes for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Dozier had 4 receptions for 66 yards and a score.  Dixon ran for 77 yards on 13 carries.  Senior safety Owen Albers (North Ridgeville/Lutheran West) led the Bishop defense with 11 stops, including half a tackle for loss, and added a pass breakup.

Allen completed 19 of 35 throws for 209 yards and 2 TDs.  Schnarre caught 8 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown.  Drake Lewis gained 64 yards on 14 rushes.  Noah Chase led Kenyon with 9 tackles.
