Three Ohio Wesleyan University football players were named to the D3football.com All-Region IV teams, it was announced today.
Senior wide receiver Kenny Streb (Willowick/Eastlake North) was a first-team all-region pick, senior safety Owen Albers (North Ridgeville/Lutheran West) was a second-team all-region selection, and senior linebacker Shane Quin (Chardon) was a third-team all-region choice.
Streb was recognized as a return specialist. Streb led the North Coast Athletic Conference in kick return average (26.9 yards/return) and punt return average (10.7 yards/return) and ranked fourth in the league in all-purpose yardage (104.4/game). As a receiver, he ranked second on the team with 30 catches for 331 yards and led the Bishops with 8 touchdown receptions, with the 8 TD catches tied for fifth in the NCAC.
Albers and Quin were starters on an Ohio Wesleyan defense that led the NCAC in rushing defense (78.4 yards/game) and scoring defense (19.5 points/game) and ranked third in total defense (354.3 yards/game).
Albers led the Bishops and ranked second in the NCAC with 5 interceptions, and he ranked second on the team with 6 pass breakups and third on the team with 69 tackles.
Quin led the Bishops with 83 tackles, including 4 sacks and 8 tackles for loss. He ranked fourth in the league in tackles.
The Battling Bishops finished the season with an 8-2 record, the team's highest win total since 2012. Ohio Wesleyan was 7-2 in NCAC competition, tying for second place in the final league standings.
