Wabash 86, Ohio Wesleyan 58

Junior post Grant Spicer (Cincinnati/Lakota East) scored 7 points during a 9-2 run that gave Ohio Wesleyan the lead, but Wabash came back to record a North Coast Athletic Conference win over the Bishops on Wednesday at Branch Rickey Arena.

The Little Giants had jumped to a 5-0 lead on a 3-pointer by Jack Davidson and a lay-in from Vinny Buccilla, but Spicer countered with a pair of hoops less than a minute apart.  After a lay-in by senior post Nick Carlson (Dublin/Coffman), Spicer knocked down a 3-pointer that gave Ohio Wesleyan a 9-7 lead with 13:16 left in the first half.

Wabash then went on a 15-1 run that included 3 buckets from Kellen Schreiber and a 3-pointer by Tyler Watson, with Schreiber's last hoop giving the visitors a 22-10 lead just past the midway point of the period.  The Little Giants extended the margin with trifectas from Davidson, Jesse Hall, and Edreece Redmond, and moved out to a 35-14 advantage on Ahmoni Jones' lay-in at the 5:50 mark of the half.

Freshman guard Henry Hinkle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) connected on a lay-in and a pair of 3-pointers early in the second half to bring the Bishops back, but Wabash held off the comeback as Davidson and Watson each hit a pair of hoops from long range, and the lead would remain in double digits for the remainder of the contest.

Hinkle led the Bishops with 20 points, while Spicer finished with 10 points and a team-high 8 rebounds.  Hinkle, senior wing Zane Ries (Barberton), and Spicer shared the team lead with 3 assists apiece.

Davidson scored 22 points for the Little Giants.
