Carlson opened the evening's scoring with a 3-pointer, but James Johnson answered with a jumper on Wittenberg's next possession.

The Bishops got hoops from sophomore guard Jack Clement (Bellefontaine), sophomore post Grant Spicer (Cincinnati/Lakota East), and Carlson to extend the lead to 9-2.  Ries added a 3-point play and then stole the ball and scored on the break to push the lead to 18-2, freshman guard Reece Mitchell (Wooster) connected on a 3-pointer, senior wing Dawsin Tillman (Bellefontaine) added a lay-in, and Carlson followed with a lay-in for a 25-2 Ohio Wesleyan lead with about 9 minutes left in the first half.

After closing within 3-2, the Tigers missed their next 15 field goal attempts and 2 free throw attempts, and committed 7 turnovers during a stretch of 10-plus minutes of play.

A Carlson 3-pointer gave Ohio Wesleyan a 28-4 lead at the 7:35 mark, and the Bishops would lead by as many as 28 points, that coming on a Clement lay-in that made it 32-4 with 5:16 to go.

Ohio Wesleyan still led, 45-26, after a Spicer lay-in with 12:58 left in regulation time when Wittenberg chipped away at the deficit, getting 3-pointers from Jordan Welch and Ridge Young to cap a 12-3 run that brought the hosts within 48-38 with 9:51 left.  Lay-ins by Justin Shipman-Curtis and Daniel Asher brought the Tigers within 51-45 with 6:57 to play.

Spicer helped the Bishops turn away the Wittenberg comeback, scoring 3 consecutive buckets to stretch the lead to 57-45 at the 5:28 mark, and the lead would remain in double figures throughout the remainder of the contest as Ries, Clement, and Spicer each sank a pair of free throws during the closing minutes.

Spicer led Ohio Wesleyan with 16 points and 8 rebounds.  Carlson scored 14 points, Clement wound up with 12 markers, and freshman wing Tony Carter (Cleveland/Parma Heights Holy Name) dished out 4 assists.
