Sophomore outside hitter Kaitlyn Peters (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead), freshman middle blocker Ava Kutilek (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier), and freshman right-side hitter Grace Cummings (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) led the Ohio Wesleyan offense, but 16th-ranked Muskingum swept the Bishops in the season opener for both teams on Wednesday in New Concord.

The Muskies won the match by scores of 25-18, 25-15, 25-17.

Freshman middle blocker Claire Solberg (Huron) turned in a block that evened the first set at 9 apiece, but Muskingum answered with a 10-2 run that included 2 kills from Erin Dickson.  Dickson recorded a kill as the Muskies broke a 3-3 tie with 5 straight points and went on to win the second set, and Brooke Bigrigg had a kill and a service ace as Muskingum opened the third set with a 7-1 burst and went on to the win.

Peters, Kutilek, and Cummings shared the team lead with 3 kills apiece.  Sophomore setter Abby Thierauf (Cincinnati/Milford) dished out 14 assists.  Solberg led the Bishops with 2 blocks.  Sophomore defensive specialist Neah White had a team-high 9 digs.
