Ohio Wesleyan University senior K.D. Melton (Warner Robins, Ga./Houston County) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 20, it was announced by the NCAC.
Melton, a defensive end on the Ohio Wesleyan football team, was named Football Defensive Player of the Week.
Melton made 4 tackles and rang up 2 sacks to spearhead the Bishop defensive effort in Ohio Wesleyan's 31-7 win over Wooster on Saturday. He intercepted a Wooster pass and returned it 26 yards for what proved to be the winning touchdown, turning a 3-0 lead into a 10-0 advantage. He had registered a third-down sack on Wooster's first possession of the game, forcing a punt, and later recorded a sack for a loss of 17 yards, pinning the Fighting Scots back on their own 5-yard line during third quarter and helping set up an Ohio Wesleyan touchdown.
