Junior outside hitter Eliza Richardson (Lakewood) posted a double-digit effort in kills, but Otterbein defeated Ohio Wesleyan in a non-conference match on Tuesday at Branch Rickey Arena.

The Cardinals won the match by scores of 25-20, 25-16, 25-17.

Ohio Wesleyan built an 11-5 lead in the first set on kills by sophomore outside hitter Kaitlyn Peters (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) and sophomore setter Abby Thierauf (Cincinnati/Milford), but the Cardinals rallied with an 11-2 run that included a kill and an ace from Morgan Hartman and a kill and a block by Emma Linehan.  Richardson ended that run with a kill, but the Cardinals scored the next 3 points and closed out the set with the help of kills from Madison McCoy and Hartman.

Sophomore outside hitter Melissa Murray (Chardon/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) delivered a kill that brought the Bishops within 12-11 in the second set, but Otterbein scored the next 9 points, with Julia Vermilion collecting 4 kills and McCoy 3 blocks during that stretch.  The third set saw the Cardinals break a 6-6 tie with 6 straight points that included a kill and a block from McCoy.  Ohio Wesleyan rallied to within 18-14 on a Murray kill, but Otterbein got a pair of Hartman kills down the stretch to take the set and the match.

Richardson led the Bishops with 11 kills, while Murray finished with 8.  Thierauf distributed 26 assists.  Peters and freshman middle hitter Ava Kutilek (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) had 2 blocks apiece.  Sophomore defensive specialist Neah White (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) had 11 digs.
