Ohio Wesleyan 79, Kenyon 60

Freshman guard Henry Hinkle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) scored 7 straight points to close out a 25-5 first-half run that helped Ohio Wesleyan break open a North Coast Athletic Conference victory over Kenyon on Wednesday at Branch Rickey Arena.

Kenyon had taken an 8-7 lead on a 3-pointer by David Mazon with 16:06 left in the first half, but the Bishops answered with a lay-in from senior wing Zane Ries (Barberton) and a 3-pointer by Hinkle to take the lead for good.

The Lords were still within 15-12 after a Mazon lay-in when senior post Nick Carlson (Dublin/Coffman) drained a 3-pointer and freshman wing David Rice (Brook Park/Parma Padua Franciscan) followed with a 3-pointer.  Sophomore wing Tony Carter (Cleveland/Parma Heights Holy Name) added a lay-in and senior guard Curtis White (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) converted a 3-point play.

Hoops by junior post Grant Spicer (Cincinnati/Lakota East) and junior wing Jack Clement (Bellefontaine) stretched the margin to 33-17 before Hinkle closed out the run with a 4-point play and a 3-pointer in a span of 21 seconds, making it a 40-17 game with 1:38 left in the half.

An Alex Boyd lay-in and an Anthony Testa 3-pointer brought the visitors within 45-29 early in the second half, but that was as close as the Lords would come.

Hinkle and Clement had 13 points apiece for Ohio Wesleyan.  Carlson added 12 points, Spicer scored 11, and Carter finished with 10.  Carter and Spicer shared the team lead with 7 boards apiece, and Clement and senior post Dawsin Tillman (Bellefontaine) shared the team lead with 4 assists each.

Mazon scored 18 points for Kenyon.
