Junior outside hitter Melissa Murray (Chardon/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) and junior outside hitter Kaitlyn Peters (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) posted double-digit efforts in kills as Ohio Wesleyan defeated DePauw in a North Coast Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday at Branch Rickey Arena.

The Bishops defeated the Tigers by scores of 25-13, 22-25, 25-19, 25-20.  The win moved Ohio Wesleyan's conference record to 4-1, keeping the Bishops close behind conference co-leaders Wittenberg and Denison, each with a 4-0 record.

With the first set tied at 8, Ohio Wesleyan took off on a 10-2 burst, with Murray contributing a pair of kills and senior outside hitter Eliza Richardson (Lakewood) and junior defensive specialist Neah White (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) adding aces.  Murray added 2 more kills to help the Bishops finish off the set.

The Bishops led, 19-17, in the second set when DePauw rallied with 4 straight points, geting a pair of kills from Kenzie Myers and an ace by Emma White.  A Peters kill brought Ohio Wesleyan within 21-20, but DePauw scored the next 3 points and evened the match when Myers ended the set with a kill.

Ohio Wesleyan scored the first 6 points of the third set, with Neah White recording back-to-back aces along the way.  The Tigers closed to within 11-10, but sophomore middle blocker Claire Solberg (Huron) stepped up with a kill to end that DePauw run, and the Bishops opened up a 19-12 lead with the help of consecutive aces from freshman setter Lily Bechina (Chicago, Ill./Jones College Prep) on the way to taking the set.

DePauw moved to a 5-1 lead in the fourth set with the help of aces by Katie Gansle and Grace Myers, but Ohio Wesleyan came back to even the set at 6 on kills by Murray and Peters.  After the Tigers closed to within 21-20 on a Lauren Ridgway kill, Ohio Wesleyan scored the final 4 points of the set, including a block by Solberg and Bechina to set up match point.

Murray finished with 13 kills, while Peters added 11 and Solberg finished with 9 kills and no errors in 13 attempts for a .692 hitting percentage.  Bechina collected 42 assists, Solberg led the way with 4 blocks, and White recorded 24 digs.
