Kenyon's Talulla Sheridan scored the game's only goal to lift the Owls over Ohio Wesleyan in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Saturday in Gambier.
In the 62nd minute, Kenyon earned a corner kick, and Chloe Webb served the ball to an open Sheridan near the top of the penalty area, with Sheridan one-timing the ball into the left corner of the goal.
Freshman midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) had a look at the equalizer in the 76th minute, but Kenyon keeper Leah Anderson was there for the save. Freshman forward Jaz Brooker (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) had a shot in the 83rd minute, but again, Anderson made the save.
The Bishops had enjoyed a 4-1 edge in shots during the first half, but Anderson saved all 4 attempts.
Ohio Wesleyan outshot Kenyon, 13-4. Freshman goalkeeper Natalie Ryan (Beavercreek/Dayton Carroll) was credited with 2 saves in the Bishop goal.
