Junior forward Ali Claus (Milford) and sophomore defender Kaylee DeShong (Canal Winchester) scored goals as third-seeded Ohio Wesleyan defeated second-seeded DePauw in a North Coast Athletic Conference tournament semifinal on Wednesday in Greencastle, Ind.

The Ohio Wesleyan win, combined with fourth-seeded Denison's 1-0 upset of top-seeded Kenyon, sends Denison to Ohio Wesleyan for the NCAC tournament championship game, with that contest scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Jay Martin Soccer Complex.

Claus gave the Bishops the lead in the 27th minute by blocking a clearing attempt by a DePauw defender, outracing Tiger keeper Emma St. John to the loose ball near the top of the penalty area, and looping a shot into the unprotected goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Natalie Ryan (Beavercreek/Dayton Carroll) protected the lead with a save of a shot by Jayla Logan in the 30th minute.

DeShong added to the lead in the 38th minute.  Ohio Wesleyan had earned a corner kick, and freshman midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) sent the kick into the penalty area.  The ball went off the hands of St. John and bounced to the feet of DeShong, who knocked it into the net with 7:42 remaining in the half.

The Bishop defense held the lead, limiting the Tigers to only 2 shots during the second half, with Ryan making a save on a Logan shot in the 84th minute.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot DePauw, 6-5.  Ryan finished with 3 saves in recording the shutout.
