Ohio Wesleyan University freshman Lily Bechina (Chicago, Ill./Jones College Prep), junior Melissa Murray (Chardon/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin), senior Eliza Richardson (Lakewood), and sophomore Claire Solberg (Huron) were named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference volleyball teams, it was announced today.
Bechina, a setter, was named NCAC Newcomer of the Year and was a third-team all-conference choice. Solberg, a middle blocker, was a first-team All-NCAC selection, and Murray and Richardson, both outside/right-side hitters, were second-team picks.
Bechina ranks second in the NCAC in assists average (9.42/set) and is 15th in service aces (0.34/set).
Solberg ranks second in the conference in hitting percentage (.350), third in blocks average (0.94/set), 11th in points average (2.81/set), and 17th in kills average (2.02/set).
Murray ranks fifth in the league in kills average (2.95/set) and points average (3.31/set), and is 14th in hitting percentage (.218). Murray was a second-team all-conference choice in 2021.
Richardson ranks sixth in the NCAC in kills average (2.79/set) and points average (3.18/set), and is 16th in hitting percentage (.203). Richardson was an honorable mention All-NCAC pick in 2019 and 2021.
Ohio Wesleyan was 11-13 going into this weekend's NCAC tournament. Ohio Wesleyan went 5-2 in NCAC matches and finished in third place in the conference standings.
