Box Score
Ohio Wesleyan 71, Adrian 59

Sophomore wing David Rice (Brook Park/Parma Padua Franciscan) and junior wing Tony Carter (Cleveland/Parma Heights Holy Name) combined for 7 points during the final minute of the first half to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay, and the Bishops went on to post a non-conference win over Adrian during the first day of the Wittenberg Holiday Classic, hosted by Wittenberg University on Monday in Springfield.

The Bulldogs scored the first 6 points of the game and opened up a 10-2 lead on a bucket by Nick Seifert at the 15:44 mark of the first half.

Ohio Wesleyan answered by scoring the next 10 points, with sophomore guard Henry Hinkle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) starting the run by converting a 3-point play and freshman guard Isaac Ward (Circleville/Logan Elm) finishing it with a 3-pointer that gave the Bishops a 12-10 advantage with 11:44 to go.

Adrian came back to take an 18-17 lead on a De'Ovion Price lay-in, and matters were even when a James Clay lay-in knotted the score at 22 with just over a minute to play in the opening half.

Carter buried a 3-pointer on Ohio Wesleyan's ensuing possession, then after a Bulldog turnover, Rice was fouled and sank both free throws.  Rice then stole the ball and scored just before the horn for a 29-22 Bishop lead at the break.

Senior wing Jack Clement (Bellefontaine) sank a pair of free throws, Hinkle hit a 3-pointer, and Clement knocked down a jumper as Ohio Wesleyan extended the lead to 38-28 early in the second half, and the Bishops would lead by as many as 16, that coming on a 3-pointer by senior guard Curtis White (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) that made it 50-34 with 11:43 left in regulation time.

Baskets from Seifert and Chace Fields helped Adrian pull within 52-43 with 8:11 to go, but that 9-point margin was as close as the Bulldogs would come.

Rice led the Bishops with 14 points and 11 rebounds for his first collegiate double-double.  Hinkle finished with 13 points, White and senior post Grant Spicer (Cincinnati/Lakota East) scored 11 apiece, and Clement added 10 points and a team-best 4 assists.
