Senior outside hitter Eliza Richardson (Lakewood), junior outside hitter Melissa Murray (Chardon/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin), and junior outside hitter Kaitlyn Peters (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) each recorded double digits in kills to lead Ohio Wesleyan in a non-conference match against Ohio Northern on Tuesday in Ada.

The Polar Bears won the match by scores of 24-26, 25-17, 25-23, 25-23.

Ohio Northern had moved to set point in the first set when a Melina Woods kill gave the Polar Bears a 24-21 lead, but Ohio Wesleyan reeled off 5 straight points to win the set, getting 3 kills from Richardson during that run.

Another Richardson kill brought the Bishops within 17-15 in the second set, but Ohio Northern assembled a 6-1 run that included 2 kills from Erin Wagner and a kill and a block from Lauren James to pull away and even the match.

Trailing, 20-15, in the third set, Ohio Wesleyan scored 4 straight points as Murray recorded 2 kills, and the Bishops pulled even at 23, but Ohio Northern got the next 2 points on Sonia Dahlin kills to take the set.

With the score tied at 20 in the fourth set, a Dahlin kill started a 4-1 Ohio Northern run.  Murray came through with a kill to bring the Bishops within 24-23, but Wagner answered with a kill for Ohio Northern to take the set and the match.

Richardson led the Bishops with 14 kills, while Murray finished with 13 and Peters added 10 kills and a team-high 14 digs.  Freshman setter Lily Bechina (Chicago, Ill./Jones College Prep) dished out 45 assists.  Sophomore middle blocker Claire Solberg (Huron) contributed 2 blocks.
