Senior forward Ali Claus (Milford) scored to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 2-1, but Wittenberg held on for a North Coast Athletic Conference win over the Bishops on Saturday in Springfield.
The Tigers had taken the lead in the 20th minute on a score by Paige Kaiser, with Grace Koperna credited with an assist on the play. Koperna added a goal in the 25th minute, with Brooke Mullis recording an assist.
In the opening minute of the second half, Claus made it a 2-1 game, courtesy of an assist by freshman forward Caroline Thomas (Perrysburg).
Claus had a few more looks at the Tiger goal, but a shot in the 50th minute was saved by Wittenberg keeper Lily Winkle, a drive in the 55th minute was cleared off the line by a Tiger defender, and Winkle saved a follow shot just seconds after that.
In the 59th minute, sophomore midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) also had a shot cleared off the line by a Wittenberg defender.
Ohio Wesleyan outshot Wittenberg, 18-7. Sophomore Natalie Ryan (Beavercreek/Dayton Carroll) finished with 4 saves in the Bishop goal.
