Cofer's 2 Goals Help Women's Soccer Down Wooster

Junior defender Madison Cofer (New Albany) scored 2 goals, including the game-winner, as Ohio Wesleyan defeated Wooster in a North Coast Athletic Conference contest in Saturday in Wooster.

The win kept Ohio Wesleyan in first place in the NCAC with 12 points, with Denison in second place with 11 points and Wittenberg in third place with 10 points, and each of the 3 teams with 2 games remaining.

Naomi Mann gave Wooster the lead just over 2 minutes into the game, with Grace Gascoigne credited with an assist on the play.

Ohio Wesleyan answered in the 20th minute after earning a free kick.  A drive by sophomore midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) hit the crossbar and Cofer headed home the rebound to knot the score at 1.

The Bishops took the lead late in the opening half when senior forward Ali Claus (Milford) connected on a 25-yard shot off a pass from sophomore midfielder Halle Dacek (Middleburg Heights/Berea-Midpark).

Wooster made it 2-2 when Mary Sirois headed home a Mann corner kick in the 52nd minute.

Ohio Wesleyan responded with its own goal off a corner kick, this coming in the 67th minute when Cofer headed home a Trinh corner kick.

The Fighting Scots had a pair of looks during the closing minutes, but sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Ryan (Beavercreek/Dayton Carroll) denied shots by Hallie Krzys in the 86th minute and Mann in the 89th minute.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Wooster, 18-16.  Ryan finished with 6 saves in the Bishop goal.
