Sophomore midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) scored to erase an early 1-0 deficit, and Ohio Wesleyan and DePauw went on to play to a tie in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday at the Jay Martin Soccer Complex.
The Ohio Wesleyan-DePauw tie, combined with Wittenberg's 2-0 win over Denison and Wooster's 1-0 win over Kenyon, leaves Ohio Wesleyan and Wittenberg tied for first place in the NCAC, each with a 4-1-1 record and 13 points. Denison is in third place with 11 points (3-1-2), followed by Wooster with 10 points (3-2-1) and DePauw with 9 points (2-1-3). The top 4 finishers (after tiebreakers) will qualify for next week's NCAC tournament.
DePauw took the lead in the ninth minute when Annalise Grammel made a run across the field and put a 25-yard shot into the back of the Bishop net.
The Bishops got the equalizer in the 14th minute when sophomore forward Ava Bruns (Delaware/Hayes) centered the ball to Trinh, who finished the chance in front.
Trinh and Bruns each had looks at the go-ahead score later in the opening half, but Tiger keeper Aubree Empie was there for the save each time.
Trinh had another chance early in the second half, but Empie made the stop. Sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Ryan (Beavercreek/Dayton Carroll) preserved the deadlock by snaring shots by Grammel in the 61st minute and Sydney Calisto in the 85th minute.
Ohio Wesleyan outshot DePauw, 22-11. Ryan recorded 4 saves in the Bishop goal.
