The Big Red took the lead in the 17th minute when Jake Krueger sent the ball into the penalty area from near the left sideline, and Brunner settled the ball, shot, and scored.

Ohio Wesleyan did not record a shot until the 35th minute, that coming on a drive by senior forward Jaggar Brooker (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) that Big Red keeper Zach Barr stopped near the top of the penalty area.  Freshman midfielder Carter Flynn (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) worked free for a 25-yard shot in the 43rd minute, but Barr was again there for the save.

Early in the second half, sophomore forward Christopher Guerra (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) fired from the left side but Denison keeper Tommy Prokos made the stop and the Big Red defense cleared the ball.

Denison increased the lead to 2-0 after a corner kick in the 51st minute.  Cameron McIntosh sent the ball into the box and it bounced to an open Miles Crosser, who rolled a shot into the right side of the goal.

The Bishops had a look with a free kick in the 77th minute, but a header by senior back Brady West (Dublin/Columbus St. Charles) was tracked down by Prokos.

"We were awful," said Bishop head coach Jay Martin.  "This was one of our worst games of the season.  Credit to Denison -- they worked hard, they defended, they ran, and we didn't do any of the above.  Carter Flynn was probably our best player -- he ran until he couldn't run anymore.  We'll see what happens on Wednesday."

Denison outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 14-8.  Senior goalkeeper Mason Taylor (Marysville) finished with 4 saves in the Bishop goal.
