Senior post Tony Carter (Cleveland/Parma Heights Holy Name) knocked down a 3-pointer to help Ohio Wesleyan build an early 7-2 lead, but Illinois Wesleyan rallied for a win in the first round of the Sikma Hall of Fame Invitational, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University on Friday in Bloomington, Ill.

Senior wing Reece Mitchell (Wooster) scored to wipe out an early 2-0 deficit before Carter's 3-pointer and a jumper by sophomore wing Jessee Battle (Gahanna/Lincoln) made it 7-2 with 14:21 left in the first half.

The Titans came back to take a 10-9 lead on a pair of buckets by Harrison Wilmsen, a pair of free throws from Luke Yoder, and a jumper by Hakim Williams.

Ohio Wesleyan was still within 20-17 after a Battle jumper midway through the half, but Yoder added 2 more free throws and Williams followed with a jumper to kick off a 9-0 run that opened up a 29-17 lead.

Junior wing David Rice (Cleveland/Parma Padua Franciscan) buried a 3-pointer to close out the first half and junior guard Henry Hinkle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) sank a pair of free throws to open the second half and bring the Bishops within 36-26, but that was as close as Ohio Wesleyan would come.

Battle and Hinkle shared the team lead with 14 points apiece.  Rice grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds.  Senior guard Joey Duke (Marysville) was credited with 2 assists.
