Cofer, Trinh Win Special Awards, 6 Bishops All-NCAC

Ohio Wesleyan University junior Madison Cofer (New Albany) and sophomore Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) received special awards as part of the All-North Coast Athletic Conference women's soccer teams, it was announced today.

Cofer, a defender, was named Defensive Player of the Year and was a first-team All-NCAC selection.

Trinh, a mindfielder, was named Midfielder of the Year and was a first-team All-NCAC choice.

Cofer and Trinh were joined on the All-NCAC first team by sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Ryan (Beavercreek/Dayton Carroll).  Senior forward Ali Claus (Milford) and junior midfielder Ryan O'Neill (Cincinnati/Maineville Little Miami) were second-team All-NCAC picks, and sophomore midfielder Halle Dacek (Middleburg Heights/Berea-Midpark) was a third-team all-conference choice.

Cofer helped lead an Ohio Wesleyan defense that allowed only 6 goals in 7 conference matches for a 0.86 goals-against average and tied for the league lead with 3 shutouts.  Overall, Ohio Wesleyan surrendered 25 goals and posted 7 shutouts.  On the offensive end, Cofer scored 5 goals, tied for second on the team and tied for eighth in the conference, and had 1 game-winning score.  Cofer was a first-team All-NCAC honoree in 2022.

Trinh led the Bishops with 6 goals, 5 assists, and 17 points and shared the team lead with 2 game-winning goals.  The 6 goals is tied for fifth in the NCAC, the 5 assists is tied for third, the 17 points is tied for fourth, and the 2 game-winners is tied for sixth.  Trinh was a first-team All-NCAC choice in 2022.

Ryan ranks second in the NCAC with 6 shutouts and is third in the league in saves (75) and saves percentage (.798), and fourth in goals-against average (1.148).  Ryan was the NCAC Newcomer of the Year and was a second-team all-conference selection in 2022.

Claus tied for second on the team and is tied for eighth in the NCAC with 5 goals.

O'Neill tied for fourth on the team and is tied for 15th in the NCAC with 4 goals.  O'Neill was a third team all-conference selection in 2022 and an honorable mention All-NCAC pick in 2021.

Dacek contributed 1 assist and was a key to the Bishop transition game this season.

Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 10-6-3 record, including a 5-1-1 mark in NCAC competition.  The Battling Bishops shared the NCAC championship, Ohio Wesleyan's first conference crown since 2011, and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAC tournament.
