Senior outside hitter Kaitlyn Peters (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead), senior right-side hitter Melissa Murray (Chardon/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin), and senior middle blocker Claire Solberg (Huron) highlighted the Ohio Wesleyan offense as the Bishops split a pair of matches during the second day of the Mount Union Invitational, hosted by the University of Mount Union on Saturday in Alliance.

Marietta blanked Ohio Wesleyan in the Bishops' first match of the day, winning by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-19.  The Bishops bounced back to shut out John Carroll, 25-22, 25-19, 25-20.

The Bishops trailed, 16-11, in the first set against Marietta before rallying, but the Pioneers did not allow Ohio Wesleyan to come closer than 3 points during the remainder of the set.  Sophomore middle blocker Reagan Brake (McPherson, Kan./Inman) delivered a kill to give the Bishops a 21-18 lead in the second set, but Marietta scored the final 7 points of the set, getting 3 kills from Jillian Fellers during that run, to take a 2-0 lead in the match.  The third set saw the Pioneers take a 21-12 lead on a Maggie Fellers block and hold Ohio Wesleyan at arm's length to close out the set and the match.

Peters led the Bishops with 9 kills, while freshman outside hitter Natalie Dieball (Cincinnati/Lakota East) finished with 8.  Sophomore setter Lily Bechina (Chicago, Ill./Jones College Prep) had 13 assists, while junior setter Olivia Osuna (Orlando, Fla./Phillips) recorded 12.  Senior defensive specialist Neah White (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) had a team-high 10 digs.

Against John Carroll, the Bishops broke a 22-22 tie with a kill by Murray before a block by Solberg and Dieball put Ohio Wesleyan on the doorstep and an ace by White ended the set.  John Carroll tied the second set at 18 on a Mary Kate Sheehan kill, but Dieball collected 2 kills and an ace during a 5-0 burst that put the Bishops ahead to stay, and a Bechina kill and a Solberg ace capped a set-ending 7-1 run.  The Bishops broke a 13-13 tie with a 9-0 run in the third set, gathering 2 kills from Murray, a block and a kill by Dieball, and 3 aces from White to take the lead for good, and White came through with a kill to end the set and the match.

Murray and Solberg shared the team lead with 9 kills apiece.  Osuna recorded 15 assists.  Solberg registered a team-high 3 blocks, and Peters led the way with 12 digs.  White finished the match with 6 service aces.

Murray represented Ohio Wesleyan on the all-tournament team.
