Freshman forward Jordyn Adams (Carroll/Bloom-Carroll) scored twice during a run of 4 straight Ohio Wesleyan goals, and the Bishops held off a Baldwin Wallace comeback to take a non-conference win on Wednesday at the Jay Martin Soccer Complex.
The Yellow Jackets took an early lead when Sydney Rice slotted a through ball to Kalyn Rich, whose 22-yard shot found the back of the net in the seventh minute.
Adams came up with the equalizer, tipping in a pass from sophomore forward Ava Bruns (Delaware/Hayes) in the 17th minute.
The Bishops took the lead after drawing a foul at the top of the Baldwin Wallace penalty area, with sophomore midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) connecting on a free kick in the 27th minute. Ohio Wesleyan increased the margin to 3-1 in the 48th minute when junior midfielder Ryan O'Neill (Cincinnati/Maineville Little Miami) converted a penalty kick early in the second half.
Adams made it 4-1 when her shot from the right side slipped past Yellow Jacket keeper Darcy Schoen and into the left side of the goal in the 63rd minute.
Baldwin Wallace closed to within 4-2 after earnining a corner kick. A shot by Rice was blocked by a Bishop defender on the goal line, and Sydni Mudge got to the loose ball and scored in the 68th minute.
Rice made it 4-3 in the 83rd minute. Senior goalkeeper Abby Markley appeared to deflect Rice's 25-yard shot, but the ball bounced off the left post and then Markley and went in with 7:45 left in the game. Markley would make a pair of saves down the stretch to protect the 4-3 lead, tracking down a header by Ella Barth with 6:00 to go and denying Mudge on a shot in the 88th minute.
Ohio Wesleyan outshot Baldwin Wallace, 23-14. Sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Ryan (Beavercreek/Dayton Carroll) made 6 saves and Markley finished with 2 saves.
