Junior midfielder Landon Kuhn (Lewis Center/Olentangy Berlin) scored twice and set up a third goal as Ohio Wesleyan erupted for 4 second-half scores on the way to a non-conference win over Capital on Tuesday in Columbus.
Ohio Wesleyan had a 15-3 advantage in shots during the first half, but the Comets withstood the barrage thanks in part to 5 saves by goalkeeper Ethan Ogden.
The Bishops got on the scoreboard in the 53rd minute on Kuhn's first goal of the night, with junior forward Franklin Rodriguez (Santiago, Dominican Republic/Berkshire (Mass.)) and sophomore forward Rowan Kriebel (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) credited with assists on the play.
Kuhn struck again shortly thereafter, taking a feed from sophomore forward Christopher Guerra (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) and scoring in the 60th minute.
Ohio Wesleyan made it 3-0 in the 66th minute on a score by sophomore forward Aiden Wightman (Beavercreek), with Kuhn and junior back Justin Carro (Wharton, N.J./Morris Hills) assisting on the play.
Kriebel wrapped up the Bishop scoring with an unassisted goal in the 87th minute.
Ohio Wesleyan outshot Capital, 26-8. Senior goalkeeper Mason Taylor (Marysville) stopped 5 shots in recording the Bishops' second consecutive shutout.
