Box Score
Ohio Northern 3, Ohio Wesleyan 0

Freshman outside hitter Natalie Dieball (Cincinnati/Lakota East) recorded a team-high 9 kills and senior right-side hitter Melissa Murray (Chardon/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) added 7 more, but 25th-ranked Ohio Northern swept Ohio Wesleyan in a non-conference match on Wednesday at Branch Rickey Arena.

The Polar Bears defeated the Bishops by scores of 25-15, 25-19, 25-18.

Ohio Wesleyan had tied the first set at 13 on a kill by sophomore right-side hitter Grace Cummings (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) when the Polar Bears took the lead with a 6-0 run capped by consecutive aces from Grace Irmer, then closed out the set with 4 straight points as Sonia Dalin and Erin Wagner each recorded a kill before teaming up on a set-ending block.  The Bishops were within 9-7 in the second set when the visitors took off on a 9-2 run that included 2 kills apiece from Ava Ehlinger and Dahlin.  Ohio Wesleyan rallied to within 18-13 with the help of kills from Dieball and senior middle blocker Claire Solberg (Huron), but the teams played evenly the rest of the way before Ehlinger finished off the set with a kill.

Neither team led by more than 2 points through most of the third set.  The Bishops had taken a 16-14 lead on a Solberg kill, but the Polar Bears responded with a kill from Olivia Baumann and back-to-back kills by Lauren James to take the lead, then pulled away with a 5-0 burst that featured a kill by Baumann and an ace by Irmer.  Solberg came through with a kill to end that run and make it 23-18, but Ehlinger followed with a kill before a match-ending ace by Irmer.

Dieball led the Bishops with 9 kills, Murray added 7, and Solberg finished with 6.  Junior setter Olivia Osuna (Orlando, Fla./Phillips) had a team-high 16 assists.  Solberg and Dieball shared the team lead with 2 blocks apiece.  Senior defensive specialist Neah White (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) had 13 digs.
