Sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Ryan (Beavercreek/Dayton Carroll) stopped 3 shots in the early going to keep the game scoreless, and Ohio Wesleyan and Trine went on to play to a draw on Friday in Angola, Ind.
Ryan denied Trine's Abby Robison in the fourth minute, then stopped shots by Blair Wright in the eighth minute and Bella Mabry in the 12th minute. The Thunder would get off only 2 shots during the remaining 32-plus minutes of the half.
Meanwhile, Thunder keeper Sophie Aschemeier was just as effective, recording saves on shots by sophomore forward Jazlyn Brooker (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) in the 25th minute and sophomore midfielder Halle Dacek (Middleburg Heights/Berea-Midpark) in the 34th minute.
The Bishops enjoyed an 11-4 advantage in shots during the second half but were unable to translate that advantage to the scoreboard. Sophomore midfielder Tiffany Trinh (Dublin/Scioto) put shots on goal in the 48th and 63rd minutes, but Aschemeier was there for the save each time.
Ohio Wesleyan outshot Trine, 13-10. Ryan finished with 5 saves.
