Box Score
Wittenberg 17, Ohio Wesleyan 6

Senior safety Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) connected with freshman wide receiver Quin Schroeder (Leipsic) on a 51-yard touchdown pass to put Ohio Wesleyan on the scoreboard, but Wittenberg went on to a North Coast Athletic Conference win on Saturday in Springfield.

Midway through the second quarter, the Tigers took over at the Bishop 47 after a 4-yard punt return by Eric Rasheed.  Rasheed caught a pair of passes from Max Milton to move the chains, and an OWU penalty gave the hosts a first down at the Bishop 14.  Omar Holloway picked up 8 yards to set up first and goal at the 1-yard line, and one play later, Holloway got the final yard to put Wittenberg on the scoreboard.

Ohio Wesleyan threatened on its ensuing possession, with freshman quarterback Colin Pearson (Dalton) finding junior wide receiver C.T. Taylor (Canal Winchester/Pickerington Central) for 14 yards and a first down before rushing for 8 yards on a third-and-3 call to pick up another first down.  The drive stalled at the Tiger 19-yard line, with a Pearson throw falling incomplete on third down and freshman running back Nathan Severs (Galena/Big Walnut) stopped for no gain on fourth down.

Rasheed opened the second half with a 23-yard kick return to the OWU 46, setting up a 30-yard field goal from Lucas Swierk that made it a 10-0 game.

The Bishops answered with a 13-play march, with an 11-yard run by Pearson setting up first-and-goal from the Tiger 4, but a 30-yard field goal try by freshman Collin Wehner (Bellbrook/Kettering Alter) sailed wide left, keeping the game at 10-0.

With Ohio Wesleyan facing fourth-and-10 from near midfield, Stoner was the up back in punt formation and found Schroeder for 51 yards and a score to make it 10-6 with 1:02 left in the third quarter, but the score stayed there when Wehner's point-after kick was blocked.

Wittenberg added a touchdown after stopping the Bishops on downs at the Ohio Wesleyan 15-yard line with 1:32 remaining, and on second down, Chris Manville scored on a 14-yard run.

Pearson completed 8 of 23 passes for 49 yards, with Taylor making 4 catches for 30 yards.  Severs led the Bishops with 57 yards on 16 carries.  Senior linebacker Bryar Ramey (Polk/Mapleton) had a team-high 9 stops, while sophomore linebacker Grant Johnson (Dalton) had 8 tackles, including a sack and 2 tackles for loss.
