Senior forward Jaggar Brooker (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and senior forward Franklin Rodriguez (Santiago, Dominican Republic/Berkshire (Mass.)) had 2 goals apiece in Ohio Wesleyan's 4-0 North Coast Atlantic Conference win over Wooster on Saturday at the Jay Martin Soccer Complex.
Rodriguez got the scoring started for the Bishops in the 16th minute when he received a pass from Brooker. Rodriguez collected the cross and tapped the goal behind the reach of the keeper.
Brooker added the second goal in the 36th with a tap-in on the goal line. A blocked shot was deflected to senior midfielder Justin Carro (Wharton, N.J./Morris Hills), who took a shot and Brooker collected.
Rodriguez scored in the 67th minute with a shot in front of the goal after receiving a pass from freshman back Alex Bucher (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville), who sent in a cross.
Brooker made the score 4-0 with an unassisted goal after settling a pass in the box, taking a quick touch, and sending it curling behind the keeper.
"They're not a great team, (Wooster) but they're a good, scrappy, hard team. We're pleased, 4-0 was good. We're good with that," said Bishop head coach Jay Martin. "I am very happy with all the alumni who showed up, I was very surprised about that."
Prior to the game, Ohio Wesleyan welcomed more than 100 men's soccer alumni back to campus for Martin's final regular-season home game. Martin, the winningest men's soccer coach in NCAA history, will retire from coaching after this season.
Ohio Wesleyan outshot Wooster, 31-10. Junior goalkeeper Sam Whitman (Baltimore, Md. Friends School of Baltimore) made 5 saves in net.
