Box Score
Denison 28, Ohio Wesleyan 14

Freshman running back Nathan Severs (Galena/Big Walnut) and junior wide receiver Bryan Hines Jr. (Lima/Senior) scored third-quarter touchdowns as Ohio Wesleyan looked to erase a 21-0 halftime deficit, but Denison held on for a North Coast Athletic Conference win on Saturday at Selby Stadium.

On its second possession of the game, Denison took over on the OWU 45 after a short punt.  A 16-yard connection from Tylker Green to Tommy Asleson on third-and-9 from the Bishop 22 gave the Big Red a first-and-goal at the OWU 6, and on third down from the 6, Green found Cade Nowik for a touchdown.

The Big Red assembled a 72-yard drive on their next possession, getting completions of 11 yards from Green to Asleson, 16 yards from Green to Jack Williams, and 14 yards from Green to Billy Guzzo to take the ball to the OWU 1-yard line.  Trey Fabrocini went over on the next play to increase the lead to 14-0.

A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Denison on the touchdown play moved the ensuing kickoff back to the Big Red 20, a Denison face mask penalty on the return set the Bishops up at the Big Red 41, and a Denison pass interference penalty on the first play from scrimmage gave Ohio Wesleyan a first down at the Big Red 26, but an incompletion by freshman quarterback Jake Lowman (Delaware/Hayes), a rush by Severs for no gain, and a sack on third down moved the ball back to the 32, and a Lowman punt was downed at the Denison 1.

Midway through the second period, the Big Red put together a 78-yard, 13-play drive.  Fabrocini picked up a yard to move the chains on third-and-1 from the Denison 42, and with the Big Red facing a fourth-and-1 from the OWU 48, Fabrocini broke loose for 33 yards.  Fabrocini picked up another first down with an 8-yard gain on second-and-4 before Green found Aidan Brownlee for a 2-yard touchdown pass with :10 remaining in the half.

The Bishop offense got going in the third quarter, with Lowman finding freshman wide receiver Austin Koslow (Delaware/Hayes) for 31 yards to move the ball into Denison territory, then connecting with Koslow again for 10 yards on fourth-and-7.  On fourth-and-goal from the Big Red 1, Severs found paydirt to put the Bishops on the scoreboard, and freshman Collin Wehner (Bellbrook/Kettering Alter) added the point after.

Denison responded with a 70-yard drive in 4 plays, scoring on a 40-yard strike from Green to Brownlee.

Ohio Wesleyan's rapid-fire response was a 6-play, 62-yard drive that lasted less than 2 minutes, with Lowman finding Hines for an 18-yard scoring play with :00.1 left in the third period to make it a 28-14 game, and that score would hold through the fourth quarter.

Lowman completed 16 of 31 passes for 181 yards and a score.  Koslow made 6 catches for 82 yards.  Severs led the Bishops with 59 yards on 12 rushes.  Sophomore defensive end Jack Novak (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) had a team-high 12 tackles, including 2 sacks and 2½ for loss.
