Neither team led by more than 5 points during the first half, which ended with the Bobcats holding a 39-38 lead.

The Bishops opened the second half with a 15-2 scoring spree, getting 3-pointers from fifth-year post Tony Carter (Cleveland/Parma Heights Holy Name), freshman guard Quinn Hart (Dublin/Coffman), and senior post Phil Wallace (Akron/Norton) along the way.  Bates ended that run with a lay-in by Chiwer Mayen, but senior wing David Rice (Cleveland/Parma Padua Franciscan) answered with a 3-pointer that extended the margin to 56-43 with 14:49 remaining.

Bates reeled off the next 12 points, with Brady Coyne sinking a pair of 3-pointers, to close to within 56-55 with 11:26 to go, and 3-pointers by Coyne and Peter Psyhogeos shortly thereafter helped the Bobcats take a 65-63 lead at the 7:48 mark.

Battle evened the score with a lay-in to kick off the Bishops' 17-5 run, and senior guard Ryan Smudz (Delaware/Hayes) hit a 3-pointer to give Ohio Wesleyan the lead.  Battle converted a 3-point play and added a 3-pointer later in the run, and senior guard Henry Hinkle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) sank a 3-pointer with 1:17 to play to make it an 80-70 game with 1:59 remaining.
