Box Score
Trine 86, Ohio Wesleyan 82

Senior guard Henry Hinkle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) sank a pair of free throws to cap a 10-0 run that brought Ohio Wesleyan within 84-82 with :15 remaining, but top-ranked Trine held off the Bishop comeback to take a non-conference win on Saturday at Branch Rickey Arena.

Ohio Wesleyan had tied the score at 64 on a 4-point play by freshman wing
Jake Lowman (Delaware/Hayes) with 11:49 to play, and the Bishops were still within 68-66 after a dunk by senior wing David Rice (Cleveland/Parma Padua Franciscan) midway through the half.

The Thunder went on a 16-6 run that included a trio of 3-pointers by Aidan Smylie along with a putback dunk from Emmanuel Megnanglo and a lay-in by Fred Garland on the way to an 84-72 lead with 3:46 remaining in regulation time.

Three-pointers from Hinkle and junior guard Isaac Ward (Circleville/Logan Elm) less than 30 seconds apart halved the deficit, and Ward hit a jumper from the lane with 1:32 left before Hinkle sank a pair of free throws with :15 to play.

Forced to foul, the Bishops sent Nate Tucker to the free throw line with :14 left, and Tucker sank both ends of the one-and-one to make it a 4-point game, and Ohio Wesleyan had a couple of looks on its final possession but was not able to draw any closer.

The first half was perhaps Ohio Wesleyan's best of the season, with the Bishops shooting nearly 70 percent from the field and 67 percent from long distance.  There were 13 lead changes and 8 ties during the period, which ended with the Bishops holding a 48-45 lead.

Smylie connected from downtown to open the second half, knotting the score at 48, and Megnanglo followed with a dunk to give the Thunder a 50-48 lead.  It was a one-possession game for much of the next 9 minutes before Lowman's 4-point play evened the score and Smylie's long-range shooting fueled the 16-6 Trine run.

Hinkle led the Bishops with 25 points and 6 assists and shared the team lead with 6 rebounds.  Ward finished with 14 points, Lowman scored a season-high 12, and junior wing Quinn Corna (Columbus/Upper Arlington) added 11.  F
ifth-year post Tony Carter (Cleveland/Parma Heights Holy Name) shared the team lead with 6 boards.
