Sophomore outside hitter Natalie Dieball (Cincinnati/Lakota East) led Ohio Wesleyan with 14 kills as the Bishops wrapped up the regular season with a non-conference loss at ninth-ranked and undefeated Marietta on Friday in Marietta.

The Pioneers won the match by scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-21.

Marietta raced to an 8-2 lead in the first set, getting a pair of kills from Mia Silva along the way, and the Pioneers led by a 22-13 count after Silva and Maggie Fellers teamed up on a block.  The Bishops reeled off the next 7 points, getting kills from sophomore defensive specialist Avery Krause (Cleveland/Holy Name), Dieball, and senior right-side hitter Grace Cummings (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) and a pair of aces by sophomore outside hitter Mason Campbell (Columbus/Pickerington Central), but a service error gave Marietta a 23-20 lead, and Silva followed with a kill before a Bishop attack error ended the set.

Dieball delivered a kill to even the second set at 5, but the Pioneers scored the next 5 points to take the lead for good, with Jillian Fellers contributing 2 kills and a solo block during that run.  The Marietta lead stayed in that 5-point vicinity throughout the remainder of the set, with Ohio Wesleyan coming no closer than 4 points, and Fellers closed out the set with a kill to give the Pioneers a 2-0 lead.

Neither team led by more than 2 points during most of the third set, and with the score tied at 21, Marietta scored the next 4 points to take the match, with Ella Boyer and Emory Spitler providing the final 2 points.

Dieball had a team-high 14 kills.  Junior setter Lily Bechina (Chicago, Ill. Jones/College Prep) recorded 26 assists.  Senior middle blocker Claire Solberg (Huron) led the Bishops with 3 blocks.  Krause had 17 digs.
