Six Bishops Selected to All-NCAC Football Teams

A total of 6 Ohio Wesleyan University football players were named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference teams, it was announced today.

Junior cornerback Jake Smothers (Radnor/Buckeye Valley) was a first-team all-conference choice, senior linebacker Seth Anderson (Springfield/Kenton Ridge) was a second-team all-conference selection, and senior defensive tackle Terrell Burton II (Reynoldsburg), sophomore defensive end Jack Novak (Chagrin Falls/Kenston), junior guard Seth Rogers (Whitehouse/Anthony Wayne), and senior safety Sammy Stoner (Dublin/Jerome) were third-team All-NCAC picks.

Smothers leads the NCAC in interceptions (6) and is tied for third in passes defended per game (1.00), and ranked third among Bishop defensive backs in tackles (37).

Anderson ranks ninth in the NCAC and led the Bishops in tackles per game (8.0), ranked third on the team in tackles for loss (6½), and tied for third on the team in sacks (2).  Anderson was a second-team all-conference selection in 2023 and a third-team All-NCAC pick in 2022.

Burton led Bishop linemen and ranked fourth on the team in tackles (47) and added 1½ sacks, 4 tackles for loss, and 2 quarterback hurries.

Novak ranks eighth in the NCAC in sacks per game (0.65) and led the Bishops in sacks (6½), tackles for loss (10), and quarterback hurries (9).

Rogers helped pave the way for an Ohio Wesleyan offense that averaged 24.8 points and 276.1 yards per game.

Stoner ranked fifth on the team in tackles (45) and added an interception, 3 pass breakups, a fumble recovery, and a blocked kick this season.  Stoner was a second-team all-conference selection in 2023.

The Battling Bishops finished the season with a 4-6 record.  Ohio Wesleyan was 3-5 in NCAC play, finishing sixth in the final league standings.
