Box Score
Ohio Wesleyan 84, Kenyon 73

Senior wing David Rice (Cleveland/Parma Padua Franciscan) scored 8 points during a 20-5 second-half run that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay, and senior guard Henry Hinkle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) scored all 10 points during a 10-3 run that slammed the door as the Bishops defeated Kenyon in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Wednesday at Branch Rickey Arena.

Kenyon had broken a 45-45 tie with consecutive 3-pointers from Sam Lieberman, the second of which gave the Owls a 51-45 edge with 14:25 remaining.

A jumper by freshman wing Jake Lowman (Delaware/Hayes) and a 3-pointer by Rice brought the Bishops within a point, and it was still a 1-point game when freshman guard Quinn Hart (Dublin/Coffman) buried a 3-pointer to make it 56-55 with 10:23 to go.  Rice sank a pair of free throws at the 9:55 mark, putting Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay, and after a jumper by Hinkle, Rice knocked down another 3-pointer for a 62-56 Ohio Wesleyan lead with 7:18 remaining, and a 3-pointer by fifth-year post Tony Carter (Cleveland/Parma Heights Holy Name) capped the run and put the Bishops up, 65-56.

Gefen Bar-Cohen hit a jumper from the lane to bring the Owls closer, but Hinkle took over from there, compiling a pair of free throws, a 3-pointer, a lay-in, and a 3-point play to account for all 10 points of a 10-3 stretch that extended the Bishop lead to 75-61 with 3:58 remaining.

Bar-Cohen sank a lay-in to make it a 77-68 game at the 1:11 mark, but that was as close as the visitors would come.

Hinkle led the Bishops with 25 points and 5 assists.  Rice finished with a season-high 19 points, going 6-for-6 from the field -- including 4-for-4 from downtown -- and 3-for-4 from the line.  Carter added 14 points.
Junior wing Jessee Battle (Gahanna/Lincoln)
grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds.
