Ohio Wesleyan 67, DePauw 64

Junior guard Henry Hinkle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) and sophomore wing Isaac Ward (Circleville/Logan Elm) scored 6 points apiece during a game-ending 18-6 run that gave Ohio Wesleyan a North Coast Athletic Conference win over DePauw on Saturday in Greencastle, Ind.

DePauw had taken a 58-49 lead on Joe Smith's jumper with 8:49 left in regulation time.

Junior wing Landon Turnbull (Hicksville) sank a lay-in to start the Bishop run and senior post Cole Metzler (Canal Winchester) followed with a lay-in.  Ward knocked down 3 jumpers in a row to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 60-59, and after DePauw's Reph Stevenson hit a pair of free throws, Hinkle buried a 3-pointer to knot the score at 62 with 3:19 to go.

Junior wing David Rice (Cleveland/Parma Padua Franciscan) put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay with a lay-in at the 1:39 mark, and after a pair of Bishop stops, Hinkle kept the Bishops ahead by sinking 3 of 4 from the line during the final 14 seconds.  After the final miss, DePauw's Camden Brown had a chance at a game-tying 3-pointer, but the shot was off the mark.

The Tigers threatened to run off with the game during the first half, going on a 13-0 run after a Rice jumper had brought Ohio Wesleyan within 11-8.  Sam Jacobs had a 3-pointer and a jumper from the lane and Stevenson had a pair of hoops from the paint during the DePauw run, which ended with the hosts holding a 24-8 lead midway through the first half.

Turnbull drained a pair of 3-pointers to bring the Bishops back to within 10 points, and Ohio Wesleyan trailed by a count of 37-30 at the break after Rice's buzzer-beating steal and lay-in.

DePauw pushed the lead back to 11 points on a Brown 3-pointer midway through the second half, but a 7-0 sprint that included another Turnbull 3-pointer closed the gap to 50-46 in a span of less than 2 minutes before 3-pointers by Jacobs and Brown helped the Tigers to the 58-49 advantage.

Hinkle led the Bishops with 18 points and 5 assists.  Rice scored 13 points, Turnbull matched a career best with 11 points, and Metzler grabbed a team-high 4 rebounds.
