Ohio Wesleyan raced out to an 11-2 lead and was never threatened as the Bishops went on to a 72-47 North Coast Athletic Conference win over Kenyon on Wednesday at Branch Rickey Arena.

The Bishops connected on 50.0 percent (29-of-58) from the field and went 53.8 percent from the free throw line.

Junior guard Henry Hinkle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) led the way with 21 points.  He had 3 steals in the first 3 minutes, which he followed up with a layup to put the Bishops on the board.

The Bishops led, 30-16, with 2:01 left in the first half, then got a pair of jumpers from sophomore wing Isaac Ward (Circleville/Logan Elm) and a steal from senior post Tony Carter (Cleveland/Parma Heights Holy Name) to close out the first half.

Kenyon pulled to within 37-29, coming out strong in the opening minutes of the second half as Peter Haas knocked down a jumper and 2 free throws for the Owls.  With 11:12 left on the clock, Kenyon was able to bring the game within 6 points but from there, the Bishops ran away with it.

Hinkle scored 4 back to back shots with a 3, assisted by senior guard Joey Duke (Marysville), and 3 layups.  The margin between the teams never dropped below 15 after that, and although the Owls tried to fight back, the Bishops were all over the court.

With 3:19 left on the clock, Ward scored a layup and then caused a steal, which led to sophomore wing Jessee Battle (Gahanna/Lincoln) scoring a second for the Bishops.

Ohio Wesleyan scored 16 points off of turnovers and 11 off the bench.  Hinkle led in points with 21, Ward followed with 20, and Carter notched 13 of his own while also leading in rebounds with 9.  Junior wing David Rice (Cleveland/Parma Padua Franciscan) had a team-high 6 assists, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks on the night.
