Women's Soccer Announces Incoming Class

Four student-athletes will continue their education at Ohio Wesleyan University and be candidates for the 2024 Battling Bishop women's soccer team, it was announced by Ohio Wesleyan head coach Pat Ferguson.

The class includes:

Name:  Payton Beard
Position:  Goalkeeper
Hometown/High School:  Cincinnati, Ohio/Saint Ursula Academy
Parents:  Scott & Angie Beard
Club Team:  Total Futbol Academy (TFA Elite)
Soccer Awards:  25 career shutouts, 2-year varsity starter
Academic Awards:  4-year Principal Honor Roll
Why OWU?:  "I chose OWU because of the small school with a beautiful campus, and the amazing community and women's soccer team atmosphere."

Name:  Mia Bucci
Position:  Central attacking midfielder
Hometown/High School:  Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake

Club Team:  Cleveland Force ECNL RL
Soccer Awards:  Team "Newcomer of the Year" award, 3-year varsity letter, 2-time SWC championships, Lorain Morning Journal Honor Roll
Academic Awards:  4-year Magna Cum Laude, Honors Diploma, National Honor Society

Soccer Awards:  First-team Southwestern Conference, first-team All-Lorain County, second-team Greater Cleveland, and Defensive MVP

Why OWU?:  "I loved the size of the campus and how pretty it was. It felt very inviting, and I really liked the soccer program!  It looked like a great women's soccer team of which to be a part."
