Dieball Powers Bishops to Saturday Sweep

Sophomore outside hitter Natalie Dieball (Cincinnati/Lakota East) turned in a pair of double-digit perfomances in kills as Ohio Wesleyan opened its season with a pair of wins at the Puerto Rico Clasico Tournament on Saturday in San Juan, P.R.

Ohio Wesleyan opened the day with a 25-17, 25-10, 25-20 win over Widener, then defeated Rowan by scores of 25-18, 25-14, 22-25, 18-25, 15-11.

Dieball led the Bishops with 13 kills against Widener.  Junior setter Lily Bechina (Chicago, Ill./Jones College Prep) distributed 30 assists.  Bechina and senior Ava Kutilek (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) shared the team lead with 2 blocks apiece, and junior defensive specialist Bella Guzzetta (Boca Raton, Fla./Spanish River) contributed 15 digs.

Against Rowan, Dieball finished with 24 kills and senior middle blocker Claire Solberg (Huron) added 11 kills and a team-high 3 blocks.  Bechina dished out 43 assists and Guzzetta led the Bishops with 19 digs.

The Puerto Rico Clasico Tournament is scheduled to conclude on Sunday.
