Senior forward Franklin Rodriguez (Santiago, Dominican Republic/Berkshire (Mass.)) staked Ohio Wesleyan to a 1-0 lead, but 23rd-ranked John Carroll scored during the closing seconds of the first half and the teams went on to a 1-1 tie in non-conference action on Wednesday in University Heights.

Rodriguez rang up an unassisted goal midway through the first half to put the Bishops ahead.

Senior midfielder Drew Doza (Lexington, Ky./Dunbar) had a look in the 34th minute, but JCU's Dominic Grobler made the save.

The hosts pulled even on Nicholas Graeca's goal with :04 remaining in the first half.

Ryan Betts had the first scoring chance of the second half, but his shot was stopped by Grobler in the 49th minute.

Junior goalkeeper Sam Whitman (Baltimore, Md./Friends School of Baltimore) protected the deadlock with 5 saves during the second half, the last of which was on a penalty kick by Graeca with 15:23 left in the contest.

John Carroll outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 19-7.  Whitman recorded 9 saves in the Bishop goal.
