Senior forward Jaggar Brooker (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) scored a first-half goal to give Ohio Wesleyan the lead, but Carnegie Mellon rallied for a non-conference win on Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Ohio Wesleyan had chances by senior forward Franklin Rodriguez (Santiago, Dominican Republic/Berkshire (Mass.)) and junior forward Christopher Guerra (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) during the first 20 minutes, but Tartan keeper Kai Yamamoto made the save each time.
Carnegie Mellon was awarded a penalty kick in the 21st minute, but junior goalkeeper Sam Whitman (Baltimore, Md./Friends School of Baltimore) made the save to preserve the scoreless tie.
The Bishops took the lead in the 31st minute when Guerra crossed the ball from the right side, with the ball deflected by a defender and Brooker chesting it in at the back post.
CMU evened the game just under a minute later when a Bishop defender redirected an entry pass and the ball went to Nicholas Kourakis at the top of the box, with Kourakis' one-time shot going inside the near post.
Whitman made a pair of saves during the early going of the second half to keep the game deadlocked.
The Tartans took the lead in the 80th minute when Kourakis' shot hit the right post and Leonardo Serodio got the rebound, took a touch, and fired a shot into the far side of the net.
Carnegie Mellon outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 14-8. Whitman was credited with 6 saves in the Bishop goal.
