Sophomore forward Jordyn Adams (CarrollBloom-Carroll) scored from the top left side of the box with 5 minutes left in the game to secure a 2-1 win over Capital on Wednesday at the Jay Martin Soccer Complex.
Capital gained the lead when Ryanne Michel scored a header off a corner kick in the 29th minute. From there, the Bishops battled to gain momentum, taking 8 shots in the first half in attempts to equalize.
The equalizer came in the 61st minute when junior forward Ava Bruns (Delaware/Hayes) was taken down in the box, earning a penalty kick for the Bishops. Senior midfielder Ryan O'Neill (Maineville/Little Miami) stepped up to the spot and sent the ball right past the goalkeeper to even the score.
Ohio Wesleyan continued to press for a second goal, which came in the 86th minute. Junior midfielder Avery Curtin (Galena/Olentangy Berlin) sent a ball to junior midfielder Paige Neal (Louisville, Ky./duPont Manual), who flicked the ball to the foot of Adams for the goal.
O'Neill led the Bishops' scoring efforts with 3 shots. Junior defender Halle Dacek (Middleburg Heights/Berea-Midpark), senior defender Kaylee DeShong (Canal Winchester/Canal Winchester), and sophomore midfielder Kaia Vorenkamp (Chapel Hill, N.C./Durham Academy) followed with 2 each. Junior goalkeeper Natalie Ryan (Beavercreek/Dayton Carroll) finished with 6 saves in between the posts.
