Hope's Seth Walters gave the Flying Dutchmen an early lead less than 2 minutes into the match off of a corner kick, and the visitors went on to secure a victory over 23rd-ranked Ohio Wesleyan in the second round of the adidas® Invitational on Saturday at the Jay Martin Soccer Complex.

After the early goal, the Bishops tried to battle back but the Dutchmen managed to get 9 shots off in the first half.  Ohio Wesleyan's defense held solid, keeping them from notching another goal as the time went on to the half.

As the second half began, the Bishops started strong, pressing heavily against Hope's defense.  Senior midfielder Ladon Kuhn (Lewis CenterOlentangy Berlin) earned a free kick for the Bishops in the 60th minute.  Kuhn sent the ball into the box where senior defender Brady West (Dublin/Columbus St. Charles) got a head on it to send it into the back of the net.

Just over 4 minutes later, Hope was able to steal the ball off a pass back, shooting the ball straight into the net from the edge of the box to give them the advantage.  The score held as the clock ran down, even with the Bishops outshooting the visitors 10-7 in the second.

"(This was a) very disappointing game, Hope had more energy than us and worked harder than us.  That shouldn't happen when you're at home," said Bishop head coach Jay Martin. "We had three really good games but this was awful."

Hope outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 16-14.  Junior goalkeeper Sam Whitman (Baltimore, Md./Friends School of Baltimore) made 3 saves in the net.
