Senior defender Kaylee DeShong (Canal Winchester) scored to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 3-2 with 5:14 left in regulation time, but North Central held on for a non-conference win on Sunday in Naperville, Ill.

Junior forward Ava Bruns (Delaware/Hayes) staked the Bishops to a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal midway through the first half.

Junior goalkeeper Natalie Ryan (Beavercreek/Dayton Carroll) made 2 saves to protect the lead, and the first half would end with the Bishops up, 1-0.

The Cardinals evened the game in the 68th minute.  After North Central was awarded a penalty kick, Ryan saved Jordan Lange's attempt, but Kassandra Salviola scored on the rebound.

North Central took the lead on a goal by Sarah Andrey in the 77th minute, with Madison DeVriendt credited with an assist on the play, and the Cardinals added some insurance when Lange scored in the 80th minute.

DeShong brought the Bishops within 3-2 in the 85th minute, but Ohio Wesleyan was unable to get the equalizer.

North Central outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 26-8.  Ryan recorded 7 saves in the Bishop goal.
