Senior post Phil Wallace (Akron/Norton) connected on a 3-pointer to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay and kick off a 14-0 run, and the Bishops withstood a pair of DePauw comebacks in taking a North Coast Atlantic Conference win on Wednesday in Greencastle, Ind.

The Tigers had taken a 14-12 lead on a jumper by Caleb Washington with 13:47 left in the first half.

Wallace answered with a 3-pointer on Ohio Wesleyan's ensuing possession, and fifth-year post Tony Carter (Cleveland/Parma Heights Holy Name) followed with a 3-pointer for an 18-14 Bishop lead.  After a lay-in by senior wing David Rice (Cleveland/Parma Padua Franciscan), freshman wing Jake Lowman (Delaware/Hayes) drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to stretch the lead to 26-14 at the 11:05 mark of the first half.

DePauw closed to within 34-32 on a Washington lay-in with just under 5 minutes left in the half, and another Washington bucket made it a 39-36 game before Ohio Wesleyan closed out the half with a lay-in by junior guard Isaac Ward (Circleville/Logan Elm) and a 3-pointer from senior guard Henry Hinkle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) to take a 44-36 lead into the locker room.

Carter launched another 3-pointer to open the second-half scoring, and the Bishops would lead by as many as 15 points, that coming when a pair of free throws by Hinkle provided a 61-46 lead with 14:53 left.

The Tigers chipped away at the deficit, closing to within 72-70 on a Washington jumper with 5:53 to play, and the hosts were still within 80-78 after a Sam Jacobs hoop with 1:35 to go.

Lowman responded with a 3-pointer on the Bishops' next possession, and Ward followed with a pair of free throws for an 85-78 lead with 36 seconds to play.

A Kyle Lillwitz 3-pointer and a Brady Kunka free throw pulled the Tigers to within 87-85 with :10 left, but Hinkle sank a pair of free throws at the :09 mark to seal the outcome.

Hinkle finished with 19 points to lead a parade of 6 Battling Bishops in double figures.  Junior wing Jessee Battle (Gahanna/Lincoln) scored 15 points, Ward finished with 14, Carter tallied 12, and Lowman and Wallace added 11 apiece.  The last time Ohio Wesleyan had 6 players finish in double digits was Jan. 30, 2016, with Seth Clark (18), Ben Simpson (18), Claude Gray (15), Matt Jeske (12), Will Orr (12), and Nate Axelrod (10) doing so in a 123-95 win over Hiram.

Hinkle also led the Bishops with 9 assists, matching his career best, and Carter tore down a team-high 7 rebounds.
