Box Score
Oberlin 71, Ohio Wesleyan 62

Senior post Phil Wallace (Akron/Norton) sank a 3-pointer that brought Ohio Wesleyan within 4 points midway through the second half, but Oberlin answered with a 9-0 run and went on to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over the Bishops on Saturday in Oberlin.

Oberlin raced to an 8-0 lead with the help of 3-pointers by Adam Navarre and Andrew Gannon, but the Bishops battled back to take a 12-11 lead on a 3-pointer by sophomore wing Aiden Schmidt (Dublin/Coffman).  Neither team led by more than 4 points until Oberlin's J.J. Gray hit a jumper from the lane to give the Yeomen a 39-33 lead in the final seconds of the opening half.

The Yeomen opened the second half with jumpers by Gray and Milun Micanovic to stretch the margin to 10 points, and the hosts went up by a 55-44 count when Yuuki Okubo converted a 3-point play to make it 55-44 with 12:06 remaining.

Ohio Wesleyan rallied with a pair of hoops from junior wing Quinn Corna (Columbus/Upper Arlington) and a basket by junior wing Jessee Battle (Gahanna/Lincoln) before Wallace's 3-pointer brought the Bishops within 57-53 with 8:52 to go.

Oberlin scored the next 9 points, with Gannon contributing a pair of hoops and Okubo a 3-pointer for a 66-53 lead with 6:02 remaining.

The Bishops scored the next 7 points as Corna converted a 3-point play and scored on a fast break
before senior guard Henry Hinkle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) sank a pair of free throws to make it 66-60 with 4:04 to play.  That 6-point margin would be as close as Ohio Wesleyan would come, however, as the Bishops tallied only a lay-in by freshman wing Jake Lowman (Delaware/Hayes) during the final 4 minutes of the game.

Hinkle led Ohio Wesleyan with 16 points.  Senior wing David Rice (Cleveland/Parma Padua Franciscan) had a team-high 6 rebounds.
