Early Exchange of Goals Results in 1-1 Tie with Wilmington

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's soccer team took the field Wednesday night against Wilmington. The Bishops struck early, but Wilmington answered quickly, and with all the offense happening within the first 10 minutes, the two sides stalemated for the remaining 80 minutes at 1-1.

OWU moves to 4-2-4 on the year, Wilmington to 7-2-2.

The Battling Bishops wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard. Just 27 seconds after kickoff, senior defender Gabe O'Reilly slotted one past the keeper on a breakaway after a pass from junior forward Rowan Kriebel, giving OWU a 1–0 lead on what looked to be a promising night for the Bishops.

Less than eight minutes later Wilmington responded with a score of their own, tying the game at 1-1.

From there on out, both sides generated several chances to break the tie, but were unable to capitalize, leaving the contest deadlocked at 1-1.
