GAMBIER, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University volleyball team continued conference play Saturday evening, as they traveled to Kenyon to battle the Owls. The Battling Bishops dominated the contest, taking the match in straight sets, 3-0.
OWU improves to 8-11 on the season, 2-1 against NCAC competition. Kenyon advances to 4-15 overall and 1-2 in conference.
In the first set, both teams traded points early before the Bishops found their rhythm and pulled ahead 18–12. The Red and Black maintained control, taking the opening set by a score of 25–17. Set two was all Bishops, as they took an early 4-0 lead and never looked back, taking the second set 25-16.
The third set remained tight, with both sides deadlocked at 20 late as the Owls fought to stay alive. The Bishops would string together four straight points, leading to a 25-21 set victory, taking the match 3-0.
THE NUMBERS
The Bishops recorded 33 kills, led by
Jordanne Shannon with seven,
Abby Nulph with six, and
Natalie Dieball with five.
OWU accounted for seven service aces, led by
Maggi Wall with three,
Lily Bechina with two, and Campbell with one.
The Red and Black made eight blocks on the defensive end.
Anna Kenealy, Nulph and Shannon all finished with four block assists each.
Lily Bechina was the leading setter with 23 assists.
The Battling Bishops tallied 46 digs, led by both
Bella Guzzetta and Bechina with 11 apiece, followed by Dieball with eight.

The Bishops return to action tomorrow, October 12, when they host Hanover at 12 p.m.
